Woman’s hack to carry extra luggage on flight free of charge divides opinion

One of the biggest challenges when it comes to travelling is trying to cram all your clothes into one suitcase.

And while some people have the cash to splash on extra luggage allowance, others are left trying to work out which items have to be left at home.

But one woman on Instagram believes she has the answer to your luggage woes – and all it requires is an empty pillowcase and a little bit of luck.

Marie, who shares the Instagram account @mariefeandjakesnow with her partner Jake, posted a video in which she could be seen stuffing her clothes into a pillowcase to make it look like a regular pillow.

Marie was then able to carry the pillow through the terminal and onto her flight, with no-one telling her she had to pay more for the extra clothes she had stashed inside the case.

Marie’s video has received more than 64,000 likes since it was posted last week – and people can’t get enough of the “genius” hack.

One person wrote: “This is so smart! I’ll definitely do this on my next trip.”

While another expressed their excitement and said: “Yes, I also need to try that! I literally always over pack.”

And a third added: “This is the best advice I’ve ever gotten ever.”

Some even pointed out the added benefits of separating some of your clothes from your main suitcase.

One commenter explained: “Omg so clever. Then you also have some clothes even if your suitcase is lost!”

However, not everyone was thrilled with the hack, as several people pointed out it wouldn’t work on cheaper airlines that have tighter restrictions on both hold luggage and hand luggage.

One person said: “The UK budget airlines would charge for that!”

Another agreed, adding: “But you can’t do that in low-cost flights, can you?”

Which prompted Marie to respond: “There are certainly airlines where it is not possible, for sure.”

And another unsure commenter wrote: “They will know when it goes through the X-ray machine at the airport.”
